Opening Reception of “A Moment of Stillness”

  • Hammond Regional Arts Center 217 East Thomas Street Hammond, LA, 70401 United States (map)

“A Moment of stillness” by Tina Marie and Hernan Caro

Join us for the public reception of "A Moment of Stillness" by Tina Marie and Hernán Caro. Immediately following our Members-Exclusive Mixer, the public reception is free for everyone.

Tina Marie, a self-taught artist who began her professional journey in 2013, creates stunning works using only her hands and fingertips. Through this deeply personal technique, she forms a direct connection between herself and the canvas, allowing each stroke to express raw emotion. She describes her art as interpretive, a unique “dance between [her], the paint, and the canvas,” ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same. The result is a collection of deeply expressive and one-of-a-kind works that capture the story, moment and emotions..

Hernán Caro is a multifaceted artist whose creativity spans a wide range of materials, from metals to clay and fibers, crafting delicate sculptures that seemingly defy gravity. Originally from Cartagena, Colombia, Caro has called New Orleans home since 1986 and describes his work simply: “My sculptures do not occupy space as much as they define it.”

The exhibition will be on display through May 22.
